Click the desktop icon settings link. Place a check mark beside computer and recycle bin and any other icons. I doubt that there is any fix other than your manually recreating the missing app icons (unless google / android / lenovo has removed them, as sometimes happens as apps.

Then just press & drag to the home screen any icon that you want to replace. I played around with the display settings and found out that if you go over +115% display scaling, the home button can't be seen, or clicked on. Drop to +115% (or less) and there's your home button right next to edge's refresh icon/button.

What usually happens when you click the firebug icon for a particular web page is that it opens a pane at the bottom of the page with various tools.
